Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information. Many students in our IT program focus on one or two technical aspects to prepare for careers in a variety of market niches like enterprise application development, games and interactive media or Web-database integration, to name a very few of the many possibilities. Other students choose a broader path to prepare for “general practitioner” or “Jack of all trades” jobs, which are prevalent in virtually every enterprise and organization in society. When computer and communications technologies are combined, the result is information technology, or "InfoTech". Presumably, when speaking of Information Technology (IT) as a whole, it is noted that the use of computers and information are associated.
UCET Bachelor of Information Engineering Technology degree program that provides more hands-on, practical skills with advanced concepts to increase productivity than the computer science or computer engineering programs. This program also provides a consistent path to a bachelor’s degree emphasizing practical skills in programming, database, networking, web-based applications, and computer security as well as technical communications and project management. It has less mathematics and natural science than programs in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Graduates of the BIET program are prepared for careers in business, industry, and government, in which engineering principles are applied to the management of various sorts of information. Such positions include computer and information system managers, medical information specialists, computer systems administrators, systems analysts, network managers, and multimedia developers. UCET BIET degree is designed in compliance with the accreditation criteria.
