This department is integrated and maintained by an inclusive learning infrastructure with qualitative facilities. The aim of the Mechanical Engineering programme is to provide broad-based education and training in mechanical engineering sciences and their applications that will enable graduates to meet the challenges of the engineering profession in a rapidly changing environment.

The faculty provides dynamisum and flexibility among students in expanding their knowledge base.department is also arranging extra curriculam activities as a part of which we have generate collegiate club of SAE INDIA and participated in SAE BAJA and Effi Cycle.

Today, the department of mechanical engineering is with nearly 650 undergraduates and over 26 faculty members.

ELEMENTS OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

This laboratory gives an introduction of the Mechanical Engineering field. It consists introduction of various topics like steam and steam generation, properties of Gases, thermodynamic cycles, I.C. Engine, Speed Control, Flywheels, Power Transmission, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and properties of materials. These all topics are going to be studied in depth throughout the undergraduate programme.

Different types models of brakes, clutches, four stroke petrol and diesel engine, water tube and fire tube boilers, Coupling, gears, economizer.

MECHANICAL MEASUREMENT AND METROLOGY

Metrology is the science of measurement. Metrology includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement. Applied, technical or industrial metrology concerns the application of measurement science to manufacturing and other processes and their use in society, ensuring the suitability of measurement instruments, their calibration and quality control of measurements. Although the emphasis in this area of metrology is on the measurements themselves, traceability of the calibration of the measurement devices is necessary to ensure confidence in the measurements.

Different types of digital and analog measuring instruments, manometer, and transducer are available.

FLUID POWER AND FLUID MECHANICHS

FPE is essential for mechanical engineers to design and handling of fluid power equipment, which include both hydraulic and pneumatic power types of equipment Fluid Power Engineering helps you to build a solid theoretical background, which will enable further study and analysis of static and dynamic performance of different fluid power elements and systems

Fluid mechanics is the study of the effects of forces and energy on liquids and gases. Like other branches of classical mechanics, the subject subdivides into statics and dynamics.

Instruments like venturimeter, orifice meter, notch apparatus, Reynolds apparatus, Kaplan turbine, reciprocating test ring are available.

IC ENGINE LABORATORY

Internal combustions engine will remain the chief source of propulsion for automobiles and light commercial vehicles for decades to come. In mobile equipment, internal combustion is advantageous since it can provide high power-to-weight ratios together with excellent fuel energy density. Generally using fossil fuel, these engines have appeared in transport in almost all vehicles.

Instruments like Stroke Single Cylinder Petrol Eng. Test Rig, 4-Stroke Diesel & Multi Cylinder Petrol Engine Test Rig, Model of Differential Gear Box, Model of Internal Expanding Shoe Brake, Complete Dis-Assembled Car are available.

AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING

Automobile engineering deals with designing the vehicle, manufacturing new products, repairing, and servicing vehicles. It involves studying motor systems, design, technology and many more. The rapid advancement in technology in recent years has ushered in a new era of hi-tech vehicles, making the business environment in the Indian auto industry very conducive.

Types of fuel supply system, lubrication system, steering gear mechanism, suspension system, working model of automobile CAR chassis, catalytic converter are available.

Kinematics and Dynamics Laboratory

KINEMATICS AND DYNAMICS LABORATORY

Dynamics is a branch of physics concerned with the study of forces and torques and their effect on motion, which studies the motion of objects without reference to its causes.Dynamic loads and undesired oscillations increase with higher speed of machines. At the same time, industrial safety standards require better vibration reduction using balancing of mechanisms, torsional and bending vibrations, vibration isolation, and the dynamic behavior of drives and machine frames as complex systems. Typical dynamic effects, such as the gyroscopic effect, damping and absorption, shocks, resonances of higher order.

PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY

Production engineering is a combination of manufacturing technology with management science. It gives wide knowledge of engineering practices and awareness of the management challenges related to production. This subject comprises castings,machining processes, joining processes, metal cutting & tool design, metrology,machinetools, machining systems, automation, jigs and fixtures.

REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITINING / HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER

Heat transfer has broad application to the functioning of numerous devices and systems. Heat-transfer principles may be used to preserve, increase, or decrease temperature in a wide variety of circumstances. Heat transfer methods are used in numerous disciplines, such as automotive engineering, thermal management of electronic devices and systems, climate control, insulation, materials processing, and power station engineering.

Air conditioning is the heating, cooling, de-humidification, humidification, ventilation, and sterilization of air. The refrigeration process removes heat from an enclosed space to reduce and maintain the temperature for the contents of that space. While air conditioning regulates the air in a large building, refrigeration solely cools and is generally used in a smaller space.

WORKSHOP FACILITY

Workshops for first and second semester in an Engineering Course, students are enabled in basic mechanical operations like Knurling, Facing, Grooving and Threading. Different types of shopes like fitting shop, carpentry shop, foundry shop, and smithy shop, welding shop which develops the creative skill of the future engineers.

A workshop is well equipped with 12 numbers of lathes, shaping machine, grinding machine, boring machine, power hack saw machine, milling machine. Also different welding equipment like TIG welding, MIG welding.
