Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built infrastructure for fulfillment of basic needs of human race including Transportation, Communication, Energy production, Religious, Cultural, Sports and Community and Social and Developmental activities like bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings.
The Department of Civil Engineering offers undergraduate and diploma graduate program in Civil Engineering since 2010. The department has qualified faculties of national repute, who are carrying out various academic, research and development activities.
Department has well equipped laboratories and a computer center with LAN facilities. Department has a strong desire of forging innovative alliance with the industry and R&D institutions to achieve academic excellence, along with up-to-date training on current construction practices. Engineering Mechanics Laboratory
The goal of this Engineering Mechanics course is to expose students to problems in mechanics as applied to plausibly real-world scenarios. Engineering Mechanics is a process to analyse a structural system to predict its responses and behaviours by using physical laws and mathematical equations. The main objective of structural analysis is to determine internal forces, stresses and deformations of structures under various load effects. The laboratory of structural engineering in civil department is well equipped with all the required instruments and equipment that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of the students.
The main purpose of any structure is to support the loads coming on it by properly transferring them to the foundation. The computation of internal and external forces and displacements produced by application of loads to make the structure safe. Detailed analysis is to be performed to determine the bending moments, shear forces, axial forces etc. at the required section. Basic structural analysis contains; linear elastic analysis of structural systems and members like, beam, column, slab, frame, footing etc. This laboratory is useful for understanding of practical knowledge of the subjects like Structure Analysis & strength of material. Surveying is the technique, profession, and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them, commonly practiced by surveyors, and members of various engineering professions. These points are usually on the surface of the Earth, and they are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership, locations like building corners or the surface location of subsurface features, or other purposes required by government or civil law, such as property sales. Surveying is one of the basic area in civil engineering which includes linear and angular measurements of relative positions of the points on the surface of the earth. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments and demonstrate their proficiency on weekly lab exercises and a comprehensive semester project and final exam.
